Adventures in Editing: Update 15

My weekly, Friday update....

Here we are on another Friday....

We're finishing up the second week of August. For many out there, school started up this past week. My own kids start school next week, and I'm dreading the transition. It means a total shift in my schedule and getting really creative to fit it all in.

I also realized that I never shared details about my camping trip to Big Bear. We had such a lovely time and enjoyed the outdoors. We got some steady thundershowers, which was fun, and had amazing food at this restaurant called, "The Bone Yard." Seriously, if you like BBQ, totally check this place out if you ever travel to Big Bear. I've added photos of my trip below if you want to check them out.

Moving right along, I've been a busy bee trying to finish reading through Draft 5. Let's take a look at my progress.

Goal: Finish Editing Draft 5

Result: Incomplete, but I'm so close! I have just 44 pages left to read and I'll be done with the read-through. I'm super pleased with how all of it is progressing. It's reading well and I'm really enjoying the process. There are still massive amounts of grammar errors that I found through this pass, but all-in-all, it's looking good!

The Plan: My two betas have been silent on their end so far. I'm trying not to bug them and wait patiently until the end of the month before I poke them for feedback.

For myself, my goal for this week is to finish those 44 pages, and then to make all the necessary revisions to create Draft 6. Then, I want to research 2-3 copy editors I'd like to work with and figure out their process for editing.

That's my focus for this week! It's a pretty slim ask of myself, but with kids going back to school this week, I figured giving myself some space to relax is a good idea.

That's all for today! Have a great week and don't forget to keep turning the page!

If my stories have ever made you swoon, laugh, cry, or bite your nails with anticipation, and you're hoping I’ll keep the words coming, I'd be beyond grateful if you'd consider buying me a coffee.

That magical cup of caffeine? It tells me you're out there, reading, loving, and rooting for more romance, high-stakes drama, swoon-worthy book boyfriends, and fierce heroines facing impossible odds. A coffee is a little nudge that says, "Hey, keep going—I need more!"

Thank you so much for even considering it. Your support? It means the world to me. 🖤
